Overview

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

A welcoming and inclusive school in Northampton seeks a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to help pupils reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to deliver tailored learning and intervention programmes.
  • Support pupils with their academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Help create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
  • Assist with implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies where appropriate.
  • Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
  • Has previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting.
  • Is patient, caring, resilient, and adaptable.
  • Has a good understanding of a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties.
  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can work effectively as part of a wider school team while using their own initiative.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential for candidates with suitable experience).
