Are you a qualified Level 3+ Teaching Assistant, HLTA or experienced Sports/PE professional looking for a role combining teaching, sport and wider pupil support?

Aspire People are working with a primary school in Manchester (M9) that is looking to appoint a confident and enthusiastic PE Coach / HLTA for September 2026.

This is a varied school-based position. The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering PE across the school while also becoming involved in extracurricular sport, pupil wellbeing, mentoring, fixtures and wider school activities.

The school already has a detailed PE scheme with supporting resources and videos, providing a strong foundation for the successful candidate.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Delivering PE lessons across different primary year groups
  • Planning, assessing and evaluating sessions
  • Supporting active play and lunchtime physical activity
  • Running after-school sports clubs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
  • Supporting school teams and sporting fixtures
  • Helping organise Sports Day and other sporting events
  • Managing PE equipment and resources
  • Developing relationships with local schools
  • Supporting nurture and mentoring interventions
  • Promoting physical health, fitness and wellbeing
  • Providing occasional classroom/lesson cover
  • Supporting wider school and community events

The Ideal Candidate:

The school would particularly like to hear from candidates with a relevant Level 3 qualification or above and strong experience working with children.

You should be:

  • Confident delivering a range of sports
  • Experienced supporting children's physical development
  • Comfortable working across a primary school environment
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Confident supporting children with behavioural, emotional and social needs
  • Nurturing and consistent in your approach to behaviour
  • Proactive and organised
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing to the wider team

Essential:

  • Level 3 sports/coaching qualification or above
  • Minimum 2 years' experience supporting children's sport/physical activity
  • Experience with children who have experienced ACEs
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English, Maths and Science
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
  • Knowledge of a range of sports
  • Flexibility to support fixtures and extracurricular activities

A Level 3 TA qualification, previous school experience or First Aid qualification would be desirable.

Hours:

Monday: After-school club until 4:00pm
Tuesday: After-school club until 4:00pm
Wednesday: Staff training until 4:30pm
Thursday: After-school club until 4:00pm
Friday: 2:00pm finish

Occasional changes to hours may be required for sporting fixtures and school events.
