Aspire People are recruiting two Learning Support Assistants for long-term, full-time positions starting in September 2026 at a highly successful secondary school in Central Manchester. This opportunity is suitable for graduates considering a career in education, including aspiring teachers or educational psychologists, who are passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with teachers and the SEND team to support students who require additional help accessing the curriculum.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students build confidence, develop independence, and make progress.
- Support a diverse cohort, including pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and pupils who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL).
The school maintains an inclusive ethos with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and many languages spoken across the community.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A UK degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology, English, Mathematics, Science, or a related subject.
- A strong academic background.
- Previous experience working with children or young people through tutoring, university placements, schools, youth work, mentoring, coaching, or similar settings.
- A genuine passion for education and supporting students to succeed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A proactive, patient, and resilient approach to supporting learning.
This role is suitable for aspiring teachers, aspiring educational psychologists, psychology graduates, or graduates in English, maths, or science seeking school-based experience before teacher training or postgraduate study.
Requirements (Essential)
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- References covering the last two years.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is essential.
