Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School
South Manchester | Full-Time | September 2026 Start
Aspire are currently recruiting for dedicated and academically strong Learning Support Assistants to work within a secondary school in South Manchester from September 2026. This is a full-time opportunity for the full academic year on a long-term basis, with the possibility of a straight permanent appointment depending on the needs of the school.
This role is ideal for graduates considering a future career in education, educational psychology, teaching, or pastoral support. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong academic backgrounds in subjects linked to the secondary curriculum, including:
- English
- Maths
- Science
- Psychology
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, providing academic support both inside and outside the classroom. You will help students build confidence, engage with learning, and reach their full potential. Some students may have additional learning or emotional needs, so successful candidates will need to be patient, nurturing, and adaptable in their approach.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A UK Bachelor's degree related to the secondary curriculum (English, Maths, Science, Psychology or similar)
- Previous experience working with children or young people - this could include tutoring, mentoring, coaching, placements, school-based experience, youth work, or other professional experience
- A strong academic background and passion for supporting young people
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, supportive, and proactive attitude
- An interest in education, SEN, or child development
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain a new DBS
- Ability to provide references covering the last 2 years
- Full-time availability from September 2026
