The Role

  • Support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that help children feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
  • Help pupils overcome barriers to learning through patience, encouragement, and consistent support.
  • Work alongside teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised learning and behaviour strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation within the classroom and throughout the school day.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • The Ideal Candidate
  • Hold a UK degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a related subject (desirable).
  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEMH and SEN within a primary school or similar educational setting.
  • Are passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Remain calm, resilient, and positive when working in challenging situations.
  • Are available to work full-time from September on a long-term basis.

Requirements

  • Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Be able to provide references covering the last two years.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
