Aspire People are currently recruiting an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work across Secondary schools in Cardiff, starting in September. This is an excellent opportunity for an HLTA looking for a full-time or long-term role, supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
This role would suit an HLTA with experience supporting pupils with ALN/SEN and/or challenging behaviour, who is confident working in a fast-paced Secondary school environment.
The RoleAs an HLTA in a Secondary school, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school:
- Supporting the delivery of learning in classes across KS3 and KS4
- Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
- Working with small groups or on a 1:1 basis to support academic progress
- Supporting pupils with ALN/SEN, behavioural needs or emotional regulation
- Assisting with classroom behaviour management and engagement
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
HLTAs in Secondary schools are often used to provide higher-level classroom support, cover lessons when required, and help ensure continuity of learning throughout the school day.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have- HLTA qualification or substantial experience working at HLTA level
- Experience working within Secondary schools
- Confidence supporting whole classes and leading learning when required
- Experience working with ALN/SEN and/or challenging behaviour (desirable)
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A positive, flexible and proactive approach
- Daily pay between £100 and £130, depending on experience
- September start roles in well-supported Secondary schools
- Ongoing support from a dedicated Secondary consultant
- Opportunities for long-term and permanent placements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
- Suitable references covering recent experience
