Nursery Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Down Syndrome Support - Sparkhill is a full‑time role starting in September 2026 and continuing until July 2027, providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child in Nursery with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The successful candidate will support a young child with Down syndrome, helping them access learning, develop communication and social skills, and thrive within the nursery environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Nursery‑aged child with Down syndrome.
- Support the child's learning, development, and engagement in daily classroom activities.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCO, and other professionals to implement strategies outlined within the EHCP.
- Encourage communication, independence, and positive social interactions.
- Adapt activities and resources to meet the child's individual needs.
- Support personal development and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to school staff where appropriate.
- Previous experience working with children in an EYFS or primary setting.
- Experience supporting children with additional needs, particularly those with Down syndrome or similar developmental needs, is desirable.
- A nurturing, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider support team.
- A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential.
