Aspire People are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of one of our long-standing partner primary schools in Central Manchester. We have worked closely with this fantastic school for a number of years and are now looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor / Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 class from September.
This is a unique opportunity for a confident and experienced individual who can combine excellent classroom support with exceptional behaviour management skills. The successful candidate will work closely alongside the Year 6 class teacher, helping to create a positive learning environment while supporting pupils with additional behavioural needs.
The role will predominantly be at Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) level, including leading the class to cover PPA and teacher release time when required. Strong classroom presence and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils are essential.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Experience leading a primary classroom, particularly within Key Stage 2.
- Outstanding behaviour management skills and confidence working with pupils who display challenging behaviour.
- The ability to support learning while maintaining high expectations of behaviour.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a personality that complements the Year 6 class teacher and wider school team.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
This role would suit:
- An Early Career Teacher (ECT) with strong KS2 experience and excellent behaviour management.
- An experienced HLTA or Teaching Assistant who has confidently led classes.
- A graduate with a background in Educational Psychology or a related subject and relevant practical experience.
- Candidates with youth work experience supporting children with behavioural needs.
- Individuals who have worked in Primary PRUs, Alternative Provision or specialist schools supporting pupils with challenging behaviour on a daily basis.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience managing challenging behaviour within an educational setting.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- References covering the last two years.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them reach their full potential.
