SEMH / ALN Learning Support Assistants (FE/College) - Vale of Glamorgan - September Start (PT & FT Available)
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or Additional Learning Needs (ALN)? Would you like to make a real difference in further education (FE) and college settings while continuing to develop your skills? Aspire People are currently recruiting SEMH / ALN Learning Support Assistants to work across colleges and post-16 provisions in the Vale of Glamorgan from September. We have both part-time and full-time opportunities available, alongside flexible day-to-day supply work.
The Role:
- Long-term, short-term, part-time and full-time opportunities available within FE colleges and post-16 provisions
- Opportunities across Vale of Glamorgan colleges and surrounding areas
- Competitive rate of pay - £16.11 per hour
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for learners with SEMH and ALN needs
- Support learners with ASD, ADHD, anxiety, and behavioural/emotional regulation needs
- Assist with behaviour management and positive de-escalation strategies
- Work closely with ALNCOs, pastoral teams, and teaching staff
- Support learners in both mainstream vocational/academic classes and specialist provisions
- Promote independence, employability skills, and preparation for adulthood

Requirements:
- Experience working with young people or adults with SEMH, ALN or behavioural needs (ideally within FE, post-16, or college settings)
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and behaviour management skills
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable and diverse learners
