An SEN school in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis through Aspire People. The school provides tailored support for pupils with autism and associated speech, language and communication needs. The Role
We are seeking a Teaching Assistant who can work closely with pupils who require consistent, structured and communication-focused support. You will be part of a skilled team that includes teachers, therapists and experienced support staff. Each day will involve providing targeted assistance, using visual supports, helping with regulation strategies and promoting independence throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with autism and communication needs in a structured classroom environment
- Following individual learning plans and communication approaches
- Using visual timetables, structured routines and regulation strategies effectively
- Supporting pupils during lessons, movement around school and planned activities
- Promoting a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
- Working collaboratively with teachers and specialists to deliver tailored support
Who We Are Looking For
The school values applicants with experience in SEND, particularly autism and speech and language needs. We also welcome candidates with transferable skills from:
- Residential support
- Social care or support work
- Care settings
- Psychology or relevant degree backgrounds
- Early Years or youth support roles
Ideal candidates will be patient, confident, proactive and committed to enabling pupils with complex needs to progress both academically and socially.

- Availability Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm, term time only
- Experience or interest in working with pupils with SEND
