Aspire People are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Further Education college in Cardiff for a Teacher of Skills and Learning Development.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with 16-19 learners, delivering essential skills, study support and learner development programmes while also providing classroom cover where required.
This rewarding role would suit candidates with experience teaching English, Maths, Functional Skills, Essential Skills Wales, Welsh Baccalaureate, Employability, Study Skills or Learning Support programmes within a school, sixth form or college setting.
The Role
* Deliver engaging lessons in Essential Skills Wales and learner development programmes.
* Support learners to develop literacy, numeracy, digital and employability skills.
* Monitor learner progress and provide effective feedback and intervention.
* Facilitate workshops that improve study skills, resilience and independent learning.
* Provide high-quality classroom cover during staff absences.
* Promote positive behaviour and maintain an inclusive learning environment.
* Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams to support learner achievement and progression.
The Ideal Candidate
* Hold a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, QTS or equivalent).
* Hold a degree or equivalent qualification.
* Have experience delivering English, Maths, Functional Skills, Essential Skills, Welsh Baccalaureate or similar programmes.
* Be confident managing groups of learners and delivering pre-planned lessons.
* Have strong communication, organisation and IT skills.
* Be passionate about supporting learners of all abilities to succeed.
* Experience within Further Education, Sixth Form or Secondary education is desirable.
