Job Description
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Skills in recording and presenting information
- Competent numeracy and IT skills
- Understanding of all issues around caring for young people in a care environment
- Treating clients confidentially and understanding data protection protocols
- Flexibility and adaptability (working weekends and public holidays on a rota basis)
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Experience of lone working and managing own workload
- To be comfortable completing everyday household tasks
- Ability and desire to encourage young people to better care for and develop themselves
- To enable young people to learn basic living skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and finances
- To promote education and highlight educational needs and gaps
- Understanding of Equal Opportunities
- Understanding of Health and Safety Issues in the home and young people
- Understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Standards
- A good understanding of Safeguarding/Child Sexual Exploitation and current legislation surrounding this
- To be able to work as part of a team
Qualifications
- Experience of supporting young people within a caring role environment who display Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties
- Full clean driving licence (to use the Company Vehicles)
- Experience of paid care work in residential or day care environment
- Experience of working with young people aged 10 to 17 years of age
- Have a kind and caring nature
- Residential Childcare Level 3 Diploma or NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (Young People). Alternatively, our client is offering the opportunity to achieve a diploma within 18 months of commencing employment
- Positive employment record
