Responsibilities
- Estimating & Commercial
- Costing & Estimates: Prepare competitive, comprehensive cost estimates and quotations for steel doors, windows, fire screens, and curtain walling.
- Tender Review: Evaluate incoming tender documents, architectural plans, structural drawings, and client briefs to determine the project scope.
- Material Take-Offs: Proficiently utilize specialized software to map out material quantities, labor requirements, and pricing packages.
- Supply Chain Liaison: Collaborate with external vendors and subcontractors to source highly competitive trade quotes for materials.
- Risk Management: Identify project opportunities, exclusions, and risks, building necessary contingencies and value‑engineering options into final quotes.
- Project Handover: Support comprehensive tender submissions and facilitate smooth handovers to production teams.
- Design & Technical
- CAD Drafting: Prepare detailed façade and workshop fabrication drawings using Auto CAD.
- Detail Development: Develop precise technical details for curtain walling, windows, doors, and associated ironmongery.
- System Integration: Apply deep working knowledge of premium steel profile systems (including Schüco, Jansen, Forster, and RP Technik).
- Façade Principles: Apply core façade engineering principles, including structural loads, weathering, drainage, and thermal performance.
- Cross-Department Synergy: Partner closely with internal fabrication and manufacturing teams to evaluate technical feasibility and support design approvals.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 5–10 years of dedicated façade experience (focused on design, estimating, or a blend of both) with at least 3+ years specifically in steel doors, fire screens, curtain walling, or steel window manufacturing.
- Software Expertise: Proven, hands-on proficiency using SchüCal (Schuekal) or Logi Kal estimating software is strictly essential. High competency in Auto CAD is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of steel fabrication techniques, architectural metalwork, site installation processes, and strong Excel skills.
- Technical Standards: Working knowledge of CWCT guidelines, BS/EN standards, and UK Building Regulations.
- Core Skills: Strong numeracy, exceptional commercial awareness, highly organized record-keeping, and excellent communication skills
