Overview
In this role you will link design, documentation and shopfloor activity to ensure accurate CAD models, drawings and BOMs for manufacture. You will modify equipment in a manufacturing setting, manage engineering changes and data in PDM, and support design-for-manufacture improvements. You’ll work with workshop technicians to resolve build queries, driving manufacturability, reliability and efficiency. The role sits in a growing engineering environment delivering major projects UK and internationally, with clear pathways for progression and strong training.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SolidWorks 3D models, components and assemblies
- Produce detailed manufacturing, fabrication and assembly drawings
- Review and update CAD models/drawings with accurate documentation
- Identify and implement design improvements to enhance manufacturability and efficiency
- Create, update and manage BOMs
- Collaborate with Workshop Technicians to resolve build queries and provide technical guidance
- Prepare assembly and work instructions and supporting documentation
- Configure/modify equipment to meet project requirements
- Manage engineering changes and revision control across CAD, drawings and BOMs
- Maintain engineering data in PDM systems and ensure correct revisions
- Support DFMA and continuous improvement initiatives
- Review/validate CAD assemblies before release and ensure proper part numbering and structures
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Purchasing and Workshop teams throughout the product lifecycle
Key requirements
- Manufacturing/Production Engineering experience
- Engineering Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification
- Over 3 years engineering experience
- SolidWorks – 3D modelling, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings
- SolidWorks PDM experience, including managing and migrating legacy drawings/data
- Experience creating, editing, and improving engineering drawings
- Experience identifying and implementing manufacturing/design improvements
- Proven experience managing engineering changes and revision control
- Experience creating, maintaining and managing engineering BOMs in PDM systems
- Experience configuring/modifying/updating mechanical equipment to meet manufacturing requirements
- Understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes and how changes impact production
- Documentation and drawing control experience
- Experience working directly with workshop technicians and manufacturing teams
- Good understanding of machining, fabrication, welding or mechanical assemblies
- Manufacturing engineering mindset with hands-on equipment knowledge
- Strong communication with Workshop Technicians to resolve build queries
