We are seeking a proactive and skilled Reliability Maintenance Engineer to support safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations through a reliability‑led maintenance strategy. The successful candidate will focus on maximising equipment availability, improving asset performance, reducing repeat equipment failures, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and packaging operations. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced production environment and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and fault finding on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
  • Monitor production efficiency and equipment performance to identify reliability improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation using CMMS / maintenance management systems.
  • Assess and manage spare parts requirements to support maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are carried out in line with company procedures, GMP requirements, and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health & safety, and quality compliance.
  • Support cross-functional teams including Production, Engineering Stores, Purchasing, and Health & Safety.
  • Assist with the training and development of engineering apprentices and share technical knowledge across the team.
  • Prioritise workload effectively to meet operational demands and business objectives.
  • Work flexibly across different areas of the factory as required.
  • Report any quality or food safety concerns to the relevant Supervisor or Manager.
  • Carry out additional reasonable duties as requested by management.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Time‑served engineer or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, or multi‑skilled).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment within a similar maintenance engineering role.
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills in a production‑based environment.
  • Experience with planned and preventative maintenance systems.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS / maintenance management systems.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, packaging equipment, and associated plant machinery.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a Pharmaceutical, GMP, food, or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring apprentices or junior engineers.
