Location: West Midlands based with UK travel

Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 (dependent on experience)

My client is a specialist provider of smoke and fire ventilation system maintenance, supporting clients across commercial, residential, manufacturing, and industrial environments throughout the UK.

They are looking to bring in an experienced Smoke Vent Engineer who can take ownership of service and maintenance works while supporting and guiding a small team of engineers. The Smoke Vent Engineer will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing smoke ventilation systems across a range of commercial and residential sites. This role will involve working on both pneumatic and electric smoke ventilation systems and supporting ongoing service and maintenance contracts.

The Role

This is a hands-on, senior engineering role with responsibility for both technical delivery and on-site leadership.

You will be responsible for:

  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing smoke ventilation systems.
  • Working across pneumatic and electric smoke vent systems.
  • Attending planned works and reactive breakdowns.
  • Travelling to customer sites across the UK.
  • Supervising and supporting a small team of engineers (3 - 4).
  • Liaising with clients on site including manufacturing plants, shopping centres and residential buildings.
  • Ensuring work is completed safely, compliantly and to a high standard.

Work is primarily across the Northwest, Midlands, Yorkshire and up to Scotland, with occasional overnight stays (typically once per month, sometimes up to a week).

Requirement of the Smoke Vent Engineer

  • Time served Mechanical or Electrical Engineer.
  • At least 4 years’ experience servicing, maintaining and repairing smoke ventilation systems.
  • Strong pneumatics and electrics experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Happy to travel and stay away when required.
  • Supervisory experience (desired).
