An established and highly respected supplier within the specialist industrial piping and engineering sector is seeking an experienced Sales & Logistics Coordinator to join its small, close-knit team in Birmingham. This is a varied and commercially focused role combining account management, purchasing, logistics coordination, warehouse operations, and customer support. The successful candidate will manage customer enquiries and orders from initial quotation through to delivery, ensuring a high level of accuracy, organisation, and customer service throughout.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their workload, working independently, and developing long-term customer relationships within a technical B2B environment.

The Role

Working closely with senior management and an experienced team, responsibilities will include:

  • Sales & Account Management
    • Managing customer enquiries and preparing accurate quotations
    • Following up quotations and supporting ongoing customer accounts
    • Negotiating pricing and delivery schedules
    • Reviewing customer orders for technical and commercial accuracy
    • Building strong, long-term client relationships
    • Identifying upselling opportunities where appropriate
    • Supporting colleagues with wider operational tasks when needed
  • Purchasing & Supply Chain
    • Sourcing materials from UK and international suppliers
    • Negotiating supplier pricing and lead times
    • Raising and managing purchase orders
    • Monitoring supplier performance and stock levels
    • Reviewing material certification and compliance documentation
  • Operations & Logistics
    • Receiving and inspecting incoming goods
    • Picking, packing, and preparing orders for dispatch
    • Coordinating domestic and international shipments
    • Preparing export and customs documentation
    • Booking freight and courier services globally
    • Supporting warehouse activities including loading/unloading vehicles
    • Operating warehouse equipment and machinery (training provided)
  • Administration & Compliance
    • Processing invoices accurately
    • Maintaining quotation and order records
    • Supporting stock control and stock takes
    • Ensuring compliance with quality and export procedures
    • General administrative support as required
Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in sales coordination, logistics, supply chain, or industrial distribution
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence working with customers and suppliers
  • Good commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
  • Competency with ERP systems, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel
  • A professional and confident telephone manner
  • A willingness to undertake both office-based and hands-on warehouse duties

Please note: approximately 30% of the role involves manual warehouse and operational tasks. Experience within engineering, industrial products, metals, piping, manufacturing, or technical distribution environments would be advantageous, though full product training will be provided.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00
Friday: Early finish at 16:00
