With over 45 years of industry expertise, they are looking to strengthen their Sheffield-based research team with the appointment of a Steel Market Researcher.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone currently working within steel sales, purchasing, procurement, trading, commercial or account management, who is looking to utilise their industry knowledge in a completely different way whilst continuing to build relationships across the global steel market.

The Role
As a Steel Market Researcher, you'll become a trusted voice within the steel industry, building relationships with steel producers, distributors, service centres, traders and manufacturers across the globe.
You'll gather market intelligence through regular conversations with industry professionals, analysing pricing, supply, demand, lead times and market activity before producing independent price assessments and written market commentary.
This is a relationship-led role where your commercial knowledge of the steel industry will be far more valuable than simply researching online.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with steel producers, distributors, traders and manufacturers.
- Conduct market research through regular telephone, email and video conversations.
- Gather and analyse steel pricing, supply and demand data.
- Produce independent steel price assessments using established methodologies.
- Write market reports, news articles and commercial commentary.
- Monitor industry trends and market developments.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure research accuracy and consistency.
- Represent the business at industry conferences, events and podcasts.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within the steel industry is essential.
- Background within Steel Sales, Purchasing, Procurement, Trading, Commercial, Account Management or a similar role.
- Knowledge of stainless steel markets is highly desirable.
- Carbon steel market knowledge would also be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical thinking.
- High attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with strong written skills.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing to a collaborative team.
