An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join a well-established engineering business operating within a heavy industrial environment in Liverpool. The Mechanical Technician will work on a 4 on, 4 off days shift pattern, consisting of 12 hour shifts.
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for maintaining critical equipment, ensuring maximum reliability and minimal downtime through both planned and reactive maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer looking to work on large scale automated equipment, including ship-to-shore cranes, gantry cranes and other specialist container handling machinery. The Mechanical Technician will join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for maintaining advanced lifting and container handling equipment.
Responsibilities of the Mechanical Technician:- Carry out 50% planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and 50% reactive maintenance
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a wide range of heavy industrial equipment
- Maintain ship-to-shore cranes, gantry cranes and other automated handling equipment
- Carry out mechanical fault finding, diagnostics and breakdown repairs
- Inspect, repair and replace mechanical components including gearboxes, bearings, motors, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Complete planned servicing and equipment inspections to maximise reliability
- Work closely with the wider engineering team to minimise downtime and improve equipment performance
- Level 4, HNC or HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- At least 5 years' experience within mechanical maintenance
- Previous experience within a heavy manufacturing, industrial or installation environment
- Excellent mechanical fault finding and troubleshooting skills
- Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance
- A full UK driving licence
- Experience working on cranes, container handling equipment or similar heavy plant (desired)
