I'm recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer on behalf of a well-established extrusion manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, electrically biased engineer to join a growing and technically advanced production environment, working on high-output extrusion and converting machinery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting continuous extrusion operations through both planned and reactive maintenance. This is a key role in ensuring maximum uptime across production lines, with a strong focus on electrical fault finding, mechanical reliability, and process efficiency. The role is electrically biased (60/40 split) and suits someone confident working in a fast-paced, 24/7 production-style environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across extrusion and converting machinery.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
- Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns across production lines.
- Fault-find on motors, drives, inverters, sensors, and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain and repair vacuum conveying systems including vac pumps, hoppers, and load cells.
- Support maintenance of blown film extrusion lines and downstream equipment.
- Work on slitter rewinders, bagging machines, recycling systems, and film handling equipment.
- Carry out strip down, inspection, repair, and rebuild of mechanical and electrical components.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with strict health & safety and quality standards.
- Work closely with production teams to maintain consistent output and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update CMMS systems.
- Support continuous improvement and reliability projects across site.
- Recognised engineering qualification.
- Strong electrically biased background (60/40 electrical to mechanical split).
- Experience within extrusion, plastics manufacturing, manufacturing or similar continuous process environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems.
- Good mechanical knowledge including pneumatics, gearboxes, and mechanical assemblies.
- Experience working on extrusion lines, vacuum conveying systems, and packaging machinery preferred.
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of equipment performance.
- Strong awareness of health & safety and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
- Proactive, hands-on, and reliable approach to maintenance.
- Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:00
- Salary: £43,000 - £44,000
- 1 week on call every 3 weeks paid at x1.5
- 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
