Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Speke

Salary: £43,000 - £44,000

Industry: Manufacturing

I’m recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer on behalf of a well-established extrusion manufacturer. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, electrically biased engineer to join a growing and technically advanced production environment, working on high-output extrusion and converting machinery. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting continuous extrusion operations through both planned and reactive maintenance. This is a key role in ensuring maximum uptime across production lines, with a strong focus on electrical fault finding, mechanical reliability, and process efficiency. The role is electrically biased (60/40 split) and suits someone confident working in a fast-paced, 24/7 production-style environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across extrusion and converting machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns across production lines.
  • Fault-find on motors, drives, inverters, sensors, and pneumatic systems.
  • Maintain and repair vacuum conveying systems including vac pumps, hoppers, and load cells.
  • Support maintenance of blown film extrusion lines and downstream equipment.
  • Work on slitter rewinders, bagging machines, recycling systems, and film handling equipment.
  • Carry out strip down, inspection, repair, and rebuild of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with strict health safety and quality standards.
  • Work closely with production teams to maintain consistent output and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update CMMS systems.
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability projects across site.

Key Skills Experience

  • Recognised engineering qualification.
  • Strong electrically biased background (60/40 electrical to mechanical split).
  • Experience within extrusion, plastics manufacturing, manufacturing or similar continuous process environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems.
  • Good mechanical knowledge including pneumatics, gearboxes, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience working on extrusion lines, vacuum conveying systems, and packaging machinery preferred.
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of equipment performance.
  • Strong awareness of health safety and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proactive, hands-on, and reliable approach to maintenance.

Package Benefits

  • Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:00
  • Salary: £43,000 - £44,000
  • 1 week on call every 3 weeks paid at x1.5
  • 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
  • In service life assurance
  • Company pension
  • Long-term stability
