Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer:

  • Research and concept development through to detailed design
  • Taking existing designs and adapting them into new machine formats
  • Modifying and improving existing equipment and machinery
  • Supporting the build and development of prototypes
  • Designing fabricated components and assemblies in mild steel
  • Working with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components
  • Producing detailed drawings and documentation for manufacture

Requirements of the Mechanical Design Engineer:

  • Engineering qualification HNC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Over 3 years’ experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Background within heavy engineering or fabrication environments
  • Strong equipment and machinery design experience
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, Inventor also considered
  • Good understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Awareness of electrical components and interfaces
