An established supplier of building products is seeking an Assistant Warehouse Manager to support warehouse operations and customer deliveries across the South East and Midlands. This role has been created to strengthen day-to-day operational performance and ensure customers continue to receive a reliable, high-quality service. Operating successfully for over 4 decades, the business has built a strong reputation within its market through product quality, customer service and long-term client relationships. The Assistant Warehouse Manager will work closely with the Warehouse Manager in overseeing warehouse operations, stock movements and customer deliveries. This role combines warehouse leadership, logistics coordination, trade counter support and hands-on operational duties. Success in the position will be measured through efficient warehouse performance, accurate deliveries and maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day management of warehouse and distribution activities
  • Check and verify vehicle loading to ensure the correct products are dispatched
  • Deliver products to customers across the South East and Midlands when required
  • Lead and support warehouse teams with loading activities for next-day deliveries
  • Pick, pack and prepare products accurately during busy periods
  • Manage incoming deliveries including checking, booking in and stock allocation
  • Support stock control, warehouse organisation and product movement activities
  • Assist customers at the trade counter with product enquiries and order collection
  • Maintain warehouse standards including housekeeping and vehicle upkeep
  • Act as a key holder and oversee warehouse operations when required
Person Specification
  • Previous experience within warehouse operations, logistics or distribution environments
  • Forklift experience (Counterbalance experience advantageous)
  • Full UK driving licence with a maximum of 3 points
  • Experience within builders merchants, construction products, trade counter, manufacturing or distribution environments would be beneficial
  • Comfortable with manual handling and physically demanding work
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Organised with good attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and as part of a wider team
  • Reliable, proactive and trustworthy approach
