Our client is looking to recruit a Machine Operative to join their growing team in Stockport. Working within a busy steel processing environment, you'll be responsible for operating tube laser machinery, ensuring products are manufactured to the highest quality standards while supporting efficient production output. Key Responsibilities- Operate tube laser machinery to cut steel accurately in line with cutting specifications.
- Safely operate overhead gantry cranes.
- Work to production schedules and instructions to achieve daily targets.
- Carry out inspections on lasers, cranes and machinery.
- Complete production paperwork and stock checks accurately.
- Perform quality inspections using measuring equipment to ensure products meet specification.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and keep the work area clean and organised.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, PPE requirements, and safe systems of work in accordance with ISO 45001.
- Report machinery defects, accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly.
- Previous experience operating machinery highly desirable.
- Previous experience operating tube laser machinery desirable but not essential.
- Experience within a steel, manufacturing or engineering desirable.
- Overhead crane and/or forklift experience would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of workplace Health & Safety procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work from technical cutting specifications.
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
