Aspinal of London are looking for a Finance Assistant to join their team in Fernhurst, West Sussex. Reporting into the Management Accountant, this role will provide support to the finance function by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and assisting with reporting and compliance activities, contributing to the smooth running of the department. This is a hybrid role which will involve attendance at the office in Fernhurst at least two days a week (one being Thursday).
Key Responsibilities
- Post and process freight invoices, ensuring correct coding and timely entry into the accounting system.
- Reconcile store banking sheets to system postings and investigate discrepancies.
- Post credit card receipts and perform regular reconciliations to statements.
- Assist in the preparation of VAT returns, including gathering data and performing checks.
- Provide ad hoc support to other members of the finance team as required.
- Provide holiday cover for the Purchase Ledger, including processing supplier invoices, statement reconciliations, and handling queries.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures.
- Assist with month-end tasks as required by the Management Accountant.

- Previous experience in a finance/accounts assistant role or similar (desirable).
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Experience with invoice processing, reconciliations, and VAT support (advantageous).
- Familiarity with accounting software and strong Excel skills.
Qualifications
- AAT qualification or studying towards AAT (desirable but not essential).
