Key Responsibilities My client are seeking an experienced Estimator with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the joinery or woodworking industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed quotes, This is a key role within the business, working closely with directors and the production team to ensure accurate pricing and successful project delivery.

This would entail taking initial enquiries to proposal as efficiently and as accurately as deemed possible, using internal estimating and take off systems to accurately cost a project enquiry.

In identifying scope from the tender package and drawings, to compile an outline of work.

Identifying risk items and or any third party involvement from outsourcing manufacturing to acquiring costs for special items / materials.

Excellent organisational ability, and a proactive approach is acquired while maintaining high standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take tenders from Initial enquiry to proposal
  • Identifying scope of tender through tender package and drawings
  • Identify risk items, that require special attention or any third party involvement.
  • Request and undertake any internal meetings to discuss elements within the tender.
  • To gather accurate costings of materials, quantities and any special items that require third party manufacture.
  • Compile complete quotations for presentation to client.
  • On third party involvement assist in the sourcing and procurement of materials or outsourced manufacture.
  • Make follow up enquiry with client, liaise and open negotiations if required.
  • Identify within scope for possible design alternatives and or value engineering in alternative materials.
  • Maintain good relationships with prospective clients, in promoting the business in future tender invitations.
  • On successful tenders prepare and complete hand over pack to production team.
  • Monitor the progress of projects through their lifecycle alongside the project manager, ensuring all costs are tracked and that budgets are met. Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in estimating within joinery/workshop environment
  • Strong knowledge of joinery manufacturing techniques and materials
  • To be proficient in Excel, word and ERP software
  • Ability to read technical and architectural drawings
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • High attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Details
  • 28 days holidays (Including Bank holidays) with additional 2 days accrued after first year of service with additional 3 days accrued year on year from that.
