Location: Wentworth (Aspens) - 17 Wentworth Close, Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex, TN40 2PQ

Hours: 37 Hours per week (Permanent). Consistent 2-week rolling rota offering a healthy work-life balance with alternate weekends off.

Salary: £13.32 per hour

Aspens’ mission is to provide high-quality care and support to individuals on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities; meeting their needs and aspirations and empowering them to learn and grow through an integrated network of services across the South‑East. We provide support and care to children, families and adults across Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, Surrey and the London Borough of Bexley. Our services include registered care homes; supported living; community outreach; day services, including pathways to employment; children and young people’s groups and support; specialist support; and free online support for families and carers across the South-East.

About the Service: Wentworth Close is a single storey bungalow property situated in Bexhill‑On‑Sea within walking distance of local shops, amenities and Bexhill seafront. The home supports four individuals and is a short distance from Battle and Hastings and well placed to enable them to take advantage of the variety of local beaches, towns and villages of rural East Sussex. The environment at Wentworth is tailored to the needs of the individuals who live there and is autism specific and also specific to mobility needs. Our overall approach is structured around autism specific communication systems and all our residents are encouraged to actively participate in the community activities and attend the day resource centre if they wish. A person‑centred approach is paramount to provide an individualised programme of activity and variety of choice, such as bowling, swimming, computer skills, catering, cycling, living skills, drama and creative arts is available. This is supported by the same communication systems mentioned earlier to ensure consistency. Similar activities are carried out at home and everyone is encouraged to carry out independent living skills. These are incorporated in their daily schedules. Additional activities include aromatherapy and massage, personal music sessions and visits by other caring professionals such as chiropodists. Weekend activities include trips to the local beaches, parks, places of historical interest, pub lunches and identified interests. All the residents living at Wentworth have active involvement and are encouraged to have as much involvement as possible toward the input in the day to day running, choices and plans for the future where possible, alongside regular input from their families and parents who visit or contact regularly.

About the Role: As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the people we support with their daily lives, promoting independence, wellbeing and inclusion within the community. No two days are the same, and you will be part of a supportive and dedicated team that genuinely changes lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting individuals with personal care, nutrition and medication administration
  • Assisting with shopping, cooking, laundry and household tasks
  • Supporting individuals to attend medical appointments and community activities
  • Encouraging social inclusion and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting with finances and administrative tasks
  • Completing daily notes, observation sheets and incident reports accurately
  • Working closely with families, professionals and colleagues to provide high-quality support
  • Ensuring safeguarding, health & safety and care standards are always maintained
  • Promoting dignity, respect and independence at all times
