About the Role

As a People Assistant at Aspens Charities, you will provide accurate information, guidance and support to employees and volunteers throughout their employee life cycle, supporting engagement, development, retention, exit activities and managing systems. You will respond to queries and support People (including Recruitment), volunteering and operations.

Responsibilities

  • The People Assistant will ensure effective support for all staff and volunteers.
  • Manage People related systems.
  • Coordinate recruitment, volunteering and operational support.
  • Facilitate retention and exit processes.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work accurately, with attention to detail.
  • Awareness of employment legislation, policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of how the People Department contributes to organisational goals.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a high performing team and with confidential information.
  • Experience of working with colleagues across different departments and locations.
  • Strong IT skills, with experience of HR systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent problem solving, demonstrating empathy and creativity.
  • Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong team player essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Driver's licence with access to a car ideally.

Location and Compensation

Location: Home‑based, with 1 day a week in the office (Battle or Pembury) or a service. Contracted Hours: 12 months Fixed term, Full time – 37 hours per week (Mon‑Fri). Salary: £24,500 per annum. Maternity Cover expected to last up to 12 months. The exact duration may vary depending on return date of the post holder.
