Our client is looking for a Class 2 Refuse Driver / Loader (when driver not required) in the NE61 Region.
Main Job Role:
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of household and commercial waste. The role combines driving Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) with manual loading duties when a driver is not required, ensuring waste collection services are delivered reliably, safely, and in line with environmental and health & safety regulations.
Requirements:
- All Valid Drivers cards / licences to drive HGV Class 2
- Previous experience with HGV Class 2 in a similar role
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Drive and operate HGV refuse collection vehicles safely and legally on planned collection routes
- Carry out daily vehicle checks (walk-around inspections) and report defects promptly
- Operate vehicle-mounted equipment such as compactors, lifts, and bin mechanisms
Waste Collection & Loading:
- Load and empty wheeled bins, sacks, and other waste containers into refuse vehicles
- Assist with manual handling tasks as required, including lifting and moving containers
- Ensure waste is collected efficiently while maintaining service standards
Shift Patterns: Monday - Thursday (7am - 4.45pm)
