Responsibilities

  • Manage the medical affairs department in alignment with the organizational strategy and Aspen code of compliance and industry standards.
  • Oversee medical information, promotional/non‑promotional compliance and medical scientific support for the EME portfolio and contribute to the pipeline development.
  • Act as the Medical Operations Representative and medical signatory for Aspen UK.
  • Supervise quality, compliance and performance metrics for medical information, compliance, and scientific engagement processes and communicate with key stakeholders.
  • Create procedures ensuring compliance with global, regional and local regulations, maintaining consistent standards and timely responses.
  • Support Quality Management through policy development, roll‑out, and maintenance of medical information and compliance systems.
  • Oversee medical affairs resourcing and forecasting to meet KPI targets and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver support and training to local and remote teams.
  • Contribute to change controls, validate and maintain medical information databases worldwide.
  • Ensure affiliates and service providers are trained in enquiry handling and compliance is monitored continuously.
  • Conduct quality control activities and audit external medical service providers for performance.
  • Create, educate, and develop awareness of Aspen policies and the Code of Marketing Practice.
  • Provide clinical and scientific input into the development of promotional and non‑promotional materials.
  • Approve and review educational and promotional materials via Veeva Promomats or other identified platforms as per Aspen policies.
  • Ensure promotional materials and other documents meet regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with marketing, commercial teams and key stakeholders at Aspen Pharma to enhance cross‑functional teamwork.
  • Develop expertise and scientific evaluation of assigned therapeutic areas for local affiliate medical approvers.
  • Support the line manager in maintaining the compliance monitoring process.
  • Maintain risk register across all affiliate territories and report critical risks to senior management.
  • Co‑develop and implement customer‑facing interactions and liaise with the medical and scientific community.
  • Participate in the selection of qualified experts for collaborative efforts such as advisory boards, conferences and symposia.
  • Support internal teams (sales, marketing) in delivering scientific update presentations.
  • Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence in key markets for Aspen products and facilitate educational initiatives.
  • Evaluate current and future therapeutic areas, pipeline products and gaps to support business development.
  • Assist Marketing and Business Development in assessing clinical and scientific data for pipeline BD opportunities and engage HCPs.
  • Act as medical signatory for promotional and non‑promotional activities in the UK & Ireland.
  • Provide clinical input to optimize promotional activities in the UK.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Codes of Practice and maintain awareness of changes.
  • Certify UK materials in Veeva Promomats to ensure medical compliance.
  • Support the UK Marketing team in developing promotional and educational campaigns.
  • Support the creation of UK internal SOPs related to compliance with relevant Codes of Practice.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree or multiple master’s degrees (PhD, Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Medicine) and recognized medical profession status or registered pharmacist in the UK.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Medical Affairs.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in a Medical / Pharmaceutical industry role.
  • Ability to understand and interpret scientific data.
  • Experience in facilitating training.
  • Experience working with voluntary codes such as EFPIA, ABPI, IPHA.
  • Good understanding of regulatory and legal environment and auditing processes.
  • Experience in Medical Affairs and compliance monitoring is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Veeva Promomats or equivalent.

Travel required wherever necessary.
