With a strong heritage and a mission to deliver sustainable, affordable, and compassionate support, Erskine is now seeking an exceptional Director of Care & Community Services to join its Executive Management Team.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Board of Trustees, this is a pivotal role with responsibility for the safe and effective delivery of all care and community services. The Director will lead the development and implementation of Erskine’s Care and Community Services strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and a relentless focus on quality, governance, and sustainability. As the lead Director for Care Governance, the postholder will provide expert advice to the Board and Committees, oversee regulatory compliance, and champion continuous improvement across care delivery. They will also drive innovation in the design and development of new services to meet the evolving needs of Veterans in Scotland, ensuring Erskine continues to deliver the highest standards of care and support. Working with a dedicated team, the Director will foster a culture of empowerment, collaboration, and accountability – supporting senior leaders and frontline staff alike to deliver outstanding outcomes for residents, service users, and families. Externally, they will act as a visible ambassador for Erskine, building and maintaining strong relationships with regulatory bodies, government, health professionals, and sector partners.
The Person
The Board is seeking a highly credible and values-driven leader with significant senior management experience in social care. Candidates will bring a strong track record of delivering safe, effective, and efficient care services within complex organisations, alongside financial acumen and experience in balancing service delivery with long-term sustainability. Registration with NMC, SSSC or an equivalent health professional body and a Post Graduate level qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field (health, social care, public health, community development or management) is essential, alongside in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and care standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead clinical and care governance systems, develop and inspire high-performing teams, and deliver change in challenging environments. Above all, they will share a commitment to Erskine’s mission – ensuring that Veterans across Scotland have access to the quality care and community services they deserve.
