What You'll Do

  • Prepare statutory and regulatory returns for the Canada Branch, including P&C returns and supplementary notes, performing initial number reviews.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of Financial Statements and key inputs driving solvency calculations.
  • Refine the UK GAAP/IFRS 4 to IFRS 17 bridge and challenge results from external data providers.
  • Enhance data preparation controls and reconcile with the main AIUK insurance ledger.
  • Respond to internal and external data requests while prioritising work to meet departmental objectives and agreed plans.
  • Ensure statutory and regulatory returns are submitted on time, accurately, and in line with internal/external deadlines.
  • Ensure IFRS 17 reporting deadlines are met through efficient processes, providing timely data to stakeholders and supporting audit requirements.
  • Support the functional strategy by prioritising operational deliverables, managing tactical plans, and assisting the Branch Manager and UK Head of Regulatory Reporting to achieve overall business targets.
  • Apply senior accounting expertise (GAAP/IFRS) to complex finance tasks, producing and reviewing high-quality analyses to challenge return figures effectively.
  • Prepare, validate, and control regulatory returns, analyze data, communicate findings, update methodology, and drive process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Finance teams (Technical Accounting, Finance Systems, Capital Modelling, Tax) and non-Finance teams (Actuarial, Ceded Ops, Risk) to support reporting processes.

What You Bring

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CMA) with 3+ years post-qualification experience in insurance finance, or candidates with 5+ years of experience in insurance or reinsurance if not qualified.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS; US GAAP desirable.
  • Experienced in insurance technical accounting and reporting, including solvency/BAAT ratio calculations; Canadian P&C reporting knowledge is a plus.
  • Skilled in advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint; experience with Coda, Coda XL, and WDesk desirable.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor teams, resolve complex finance queries, and work with specialist financial systems.
  • Experienced in engaging with external auditors, regulators, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, planning, time management, and organisational skills; able to work independently with attention to detail and meet tight deadlines.
