Aspen is seeking a talented and knowledgeable Actuary or Analyst to join their UK Actuarial Function in London, offering you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a globally respected insurance organisation. What you'll do:

  • As an Actuary within Aspen's UK Actuarial Function you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality actuarial services that align with both tactical plans and broader strategic objectives.
  • Partner with the UK Chief Actuary and senior leadership team to deliver accurate management information and reporting for UK entities, applying market insights and sound judgement throughout the process.
  • Lead technical provisions work as well as Solvency II reporting requirements, which may include consideration of entities outside the UK.
  • Support Lloyd's reporting requirements for Syndicate 4711 and respond effectively to requests from regulatory bodies such as the PRA.
  • Develop management information that enhances executive and board understanding of key actuarial insights across relevant UK management committees.
  • Review results from annual external reserve reviews for UK entities, providing constructive challenge where necessary.
  • Collaborate with business functions including actuarial reserving, pricing, underwriting, claims, finance, and risk to integrate process improvements arising from internal committees.
  • Prepare comprehensive Actuarial Function Holder reports for UK entities covering technical provisions, underwriting policy, and reinsurance adequacy.
  • Provide input and oversight on actuarial projects stemming from recommendations of the Actuarial Function.
  • Strengthen feedback loops between pricing and reserving teams by facilitating effective collaboration.
  • Articulate legal and regulatory demands impacting the actuarial team and broader business to support informed decision-making regarding technical issues, risk appetite, and underwriting strategy.

What you bring:

  • Your proven experience as an actuary or analyst within general insurance will enable you to excel in this role at Aspen.
  • You will bring a deep understanding of actuarial analysis techniques spanning pricing models, reserving practices, simulation methodologies for loss-sensitive products, as well as familiarity with industry best practices in modelling and underwriting.
  • Demonstrated experience in actuarial analysis across reserving within general insurance settings over two to five years.
  • Proficient user of simulation techniques as well as other actuarial methodologies applied in pricing loss-sensitive product features.
  • Strong technical skills in data manipulation using MS Excel alongside other analytical tools relevant to actuarial work.
  • Effective communication abilities enabling you to structure insights into clear messages for diverse audiences including internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to persuade and influence outcomes both directly and indirectly through collaborative engagement.
  • Experience producing detailed reports at various organisational levels with accuracy and clarity.
  • Excellent conceptual skills for solving specific problems using numerical data interpretation methods.
  • Organisational skills allowing you to manage workloads efficiently within defined procedures recommended by functional teams.
  • Academic background in fields emphasising analytical thinking and problem-solving complemented by clear written and verbal communication skills.
