Location: Workington

Overview

As a Disability Assessor you will work autonomously to assess the cases of claimants applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit, as part of the DWP’s Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS). You will complete assessments with individuals who have a broad range of health conditions, with some assessments conducted remotely. An in-depth, fully paid training programme is provided, and the role counts towards clinical hours to support your registration.

Responsibilities

  • Use your clinical experience to work with people who have a diverse range of health conditions, to understand how their disability affects daily life.
  • Conduct detailed, meaningful assessments over the telephone, video, or face-to-face in an office-like setting or at home.
  • Interpret medical evidence and compose a comprehensive report to support DWP decision-making.

Requirements

  • Applications are open to Occupational Therapists only for this vacancy.
  • HCPC registration is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of broad post-registration experience; UK experience is essential.
  • Proactive, keen to learn and receptive to feedback.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and strong IT competency.
