Location: Lancaster

About the role
As a Disability Assessor you will work autonomously to assess the cases of claimants who are applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit, as part of the DWP Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS). The funding helps support individuals to live as much of an independent life as possible. Assessments may be conducted remotely.
An in-depth training programme is provided which is fully paid for, helping you feel fully equipped for your new role. This role counts towards your clinical hours, helping you maintain and uphold your registration.

Job responsibilities
- Use your clinical experience to work with people who have a diverse range of health conditions to understand how their challenges and disabilities affect daily life
- Complete detailed, meaningful, and respectful assessments over the telephone, video, or face-to-face in an office and home setting
- Interpret medical evidence and compile findings into a comprehensive report to support DWP decision-making
Requirements
- We can only accept applications from Occupational Therapists for this vacancy
- HCPC registration is required
- You must have at least 1 year of broad post-registration experience; UK experience is essential
- Proactive, keen to learn and receptive to feedback
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and strong IT competence
