Occupational Therapist Disability Assessor
Location: Carlisle

Overview
As a Disability Assessor you will work autonomously to assess the cases of claimants who are applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit, as part of the DWP\’s Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS). You will be completing assessments with individuals who have a broad range of health conditions, and you may conduct some assessments remotely.
An in-depth training programme is provided which is fully paid for, so you will feel fully equipped for your new role, and the role counts towards your clinical hours to maintain your registration.

Responsibilities
- Use clinical experience to work with people who have a diverse range of health conditions, to understand how their disability impacts daily life
- Work within an office setting and at home to complete detailed, meaningful, and respectful assessments over the telephone, video, or face-to-face
- Interpret medical evidence and compile findings into a comprehensive report to support DWP decision-making
Requirements
- Applications are open to qualified Occupational Therapists only
- HCPC registration is required
- At least 1 year of broad post-registration experience; UK experience is essential
- Proactive, keen to learn and receptive to feedback
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and strong IT competency
