As an Accounting Apprentice, you will integrate with a finance team where you will obtain practical experience in diverse accounting functions. You will assist in the efficient execution of financial transactions, support the team with various accounting tasks, and contribute significantly to the month-end process. Job requirements

  • Academic Excellence: Demonstrated academic success, including GCSE and A-Level results.
  • Attention to Detail: Capacity to work with numbers accurately.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to remain organised and prioritise tasks, especially when handling deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Interest in Accounting & Finance: Keen interest in finance and accounting is essential. While no prior experience is required, enthusiasm to learn and develop in the field is important.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word): Basic understanding of Excel is advantageous, as it is frequently used for reporting and data entry.

Job responsibilities

  • Invoice Processing and Data Entry: Aid in processing supplier invoices, ensuring precise coding and entry into the accounting system. Confirm that invoices align with budget and expenses correspond with receipts before posting to the accounts payable ledger.
  • Bank Reconciliation Support: Assist in reconciling the company\’s bank statements with internal accounting records to ensure accuracy. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank and accounting records.
  • Monthly Financial Reporting Support: Help prepare monthly management accounts by gathering and inputting data from various sources.
  • Budget and Forecast Data Collection: Assist in tracking and updating the budget by collecting actual financial data, comparing it against planned figures, and highlighting variances.
  • Preparation for External Audits: Support the preparation of information for external audits. Ensure that all accounts payable and accounting functions comply with financial controls and regulatory requirements.
