The Role
As the Assistant Buyer on Face + Body you will play a critical role in managing the beauty brands at ASOS. As part of this team, you will support in trading and managing the existing portfolio, regularly identifying and implementing opportunities to grow our business while also scoping out new partnerships to ensure the most relevant and balanced range for our consumer.
The Team
The Face + Body team is focused on delivering a curated edit of the best global beauty brands for the trend-led, fashion-obsessed ASOS consumer. They are responsible for working with market-leading brands to grow partnerships through strong JBP’s, driving trade and mitigating risk all while maximising profitability. In addition, the Face + Body team work closely with a host of stakeholders internally such as Marketing, Digital Trade and Supply Chain to support in the delivery of KPI’s across both Face + Body and the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Buyer in curating the best edit of global beauty products for the ASOS consumer, building commercial and balanced ranges.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of the Beauty market and global competitors – considering pricing, product and macro trends that impact our consumer and their purchasing habits.
- Identifying key trends and emerging brands to deliver relevant and timely newness.
- Building excellent relationships with our brand partners, implementing robust JBP’s to deliver aligned KPI’s utilising a host of different trading levers.
- Working closely with the Buyer and the Merchandising team to trade and deliver the departmental KPI’s including Sales & Profit.
- Analysing data and using reporting to drive decision-making.
- Actively contributing to the department strategy, identifying risks and opportunities and utilising data to back up new ideas and recommendations - regularly presenting these to the Buyer and Merchandiser.
- Managing the critical path to ensure that relevant launch dates and key milestones are met.
- Working closely with Marketing and AMG (ASOS Media Group) to elevate key trends and product moments, maximising the visibility of Face + Body brands on ASOS.
- Building relationships with other key internal stakeholders across ASOS including Digital Trade, Supply Chain, Events and Operations to support the day-to-day running of Face + Body.
- Collaborating with peer group across Face + Body and the wider retail function to support broader activations and projects.
- Overseeing and supporting the training and development of the Buying Assistants across the team.
- Supporting our culture by championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies.
Qualifications
We'd love to meet someone who;
- Has previous Beauty Buying experience at Assistant Buyer level within a fast-paced, global Retailer.
- Lives and breathes fashion & beauty and is passionate about the product – specifically the Beauty category.
- Has a strong understanding of 20-something culture and the ASOS customer, and is able to spot the latest trends relevant for them.
- Is organised, proactive and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment.
- Has great attention to detail to ensure that all the important details are captured and deadlines are met.
- Has the ability to build strong relationships with internal & external stakeholders.
- Effectively demonstrates the ASOS values; Authentic, Brave, Creative and Disciplined.
- Can communicate and present clearly and effectively to all levels.
- Has experience of using relevant trading systems and MS Office.
