Job Description The Senior SEO Manager will play a key role in enabling the success of the SEO team. They’ll be responsible for overseeing all SEO content production and optimisation, across 12 websites and 10 languages. They will manage an SEO executive along with being responsible for an agency team. They’ll be expected to grow SEO revenue by £1.2M through content optimisation and creation. The Details Strategy Define and oversee the execution of the SEO content strategy at ASOS. Develop growth projections for the area including financials and support required. Define the scope of strategy for partner agency. Job Functional Knowledge Expert knowledge of content strategy and content development for SEO. Advanced knowledge of Google’s content algorithmic concepts of Experience, Expertise, Authority & Trust (EEAT). Excellent awareness of on-site SEO best practices including internal linking, key HTML components and broader content optimisation for image, video, and social assets. Business Expertise Outstanding communicator and relationship builder. Able to unpackage a complex subject area and comfortable delivering education to senior leadership and exec level roles. Advanced awareness of website management processes including content updates, translation workflows and project management workflows. Strong awareness of how retail buying and merchandising teams operate. The needs of these teams and the work cycles. Able to inform retail teams of search trends, changes in third party brand demand and translate these metrics to non-specialist teams. Leadership Proven experience managing direct reports across general SEO specialists and content specialists. Proven experience managing senior stakeholders, including senior leadership team and exec members. Proven experience managing large agencies with account teams up to 10 people. Problem Solving Ability to think dynamically and provide solutions in a collaborative environment. Ability to analyse changes in SEO performance metrics and diagnose issues related to content and on-site elements. Ability to balance in-house and agency resource in a fast paced and high-pressure environment to meet tight deadlines. Nature of Impact Overall improvement in key SEO metrics to capture demand in search engines: Increase in the number of ranking keywords. Improvement in average ranking position. Increase in SEO traffic to ASOS websites. Increase in SEO revenue from ASOS websites. Grow SEO revenue by £1.2M through content optimisation and creation. Effective use of agency team. Enable marketing and retail teams to enhance their output. Area of Impact Brand Experience – Lead all SEO involvement with marketing teams and campaigns. Be the go-to person for advice and guidance on SEO. Customer Experience – Lead all SEO involvement with retail and trading optimisation teams. Providing insight and building lasting relationships with key personnel. Third party agency – Primary point of contact for agency deliverables. Manage the agency effectively to maximise ROI in this area. Interpersonal Skills Exceptional relationship builder. Able to win the trust of other teams and convert individuals into SEO champions to support our mission. Excellent team management skills. Able to show compassion, gratitude, and praise. Excellent team player, both within the SEO team and collaborative cross-department teams. Qualifications About You Experience working in managerial SEO roles. Intuitive understanding of SEO as a commercial channel and a growth driver for a business. Can translate SEO strategy and deliverables from concept to how they contribute to the company’s bottom line. Understanding of how content and PR teams operate in a large organisation. Proven experience working with analytics platforms, site crawlers, logfile analysers, rank tracking platforms, link diagnostic tools, and competitor research tools. Passion for working in Digital Marketing. Understanding of the wider Digital Marketing landscape (PPC, Paid Social, and Affiliate channels). Ability to work with numbers and data interpretation. Passion for working in the Retail industry with a commercial mind-set. Proficiency in use of Excel to create reports and work with large data sets. Proficiency in use of Powerpoint. Ability to build strong collaborative internal & external relationships. Excellent communication skills. A data driven, proactive and creative approach to problem solving. Confidence with the ability to connect with people and be a team player. Constant desire to learn & undertake new challenges. Flexibility in adapting to fast-changing priorities and a fast paced work environment. Strong organisation skills, with the ability to multi-task and hit the ground running.
