Job Description
ASOS Creative Studio Senior Editorial Manager Responsibilities:
- Senior Managers are key leadership figures in the smooth, professional and successful running of ASOS Creative Studio.
- You have an eye for all things creative, a practical ability for implementation and a strategic mindset to deliver departmental and business goals.
- You are commercially and operationally aware of the balance between quality, delivery, and deadlines, and you thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- As part of the Senior Management Team, you will work closely with the Leads, wider Senior Teams and multi-level stakeholders across the business.
- You will lead, mentor and inspire the team to deliver the best assets in the industry and help drive departmental efficiency while thinking commercially and innovatively.
- You will have the ability to successfully lead a team with a creative, strategic and operational mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: lead the Editorial Team with direct reports, ensuring our creative and delivery strategies are central to the team ethos and drive excellence across all outputs.
- Evolution & Innovation: continually evolve editorial delivery capabilities, drive process reviews, and stay up to date with industry innovations; test and adopt new approaches to maximise sales and customer engagement.
- Inspiration and Mentorship: act as an aspirational, innovative leader with a strong problem-solving mindset; champion departmental alignment to drive the best results.
- Delivery at scale: lead editorial delivery across BAU and projects; ensure tasks are resourced within budget and KPIs/SLAs; collaborate with stakeholders to translate briefs into deliverables.
- Future facing: scope and implement evolution of editorial in partnership with relevant leads, exploring automation and AI technology.
- Collaboration: work across the department and wider business with internal and external stakeholders; champion ASOS Creative Studio in every interaction.
- Performance and Efficiency: ensure team KPIs/SLAs are met and continuously identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and speed to market.
- Quality Assurance: ensure the Editorial Team’s output is best in class and aligns with brand tone of voice guidelines.
- Lead ASOS Stylefeed: manage a continual stream of relevant articles supporting commercial priorities, AMG and SEO; oversee engagement reporting and optimisation.
- Mentor the Editorial Team in content concepting and ideation, ensuring brand and creative strategy alignment.
- Editorial delivery: oversee daily delivery across editorial workflows with confidence in content management tools and multi-channel publishing.
- Collaboration with Localisation: work with localisation teams to ensure translations and transcreations are seamless where relevant.
- End-to-end operation: jointly own the Creative Studio operational process with senior teams, including growth opportunities in production and post-production.
- Lead the Editorial Team to deliver best-in-class content and stay ahead of trends and competition.
- Review and improve team KPIs and SLAs; drive high performance and efficient delivery across all stages.
- Design and implement automated workflow solutions to streamline team delivery.
- Translate and deliver multiple creative briefs for campaigns, trends and brands to deliver fashion-forward moments for customers.
- Be a constructive conduit for feedback, fostering change and supporting wider teams.
- Maintain high levels of organization, multitasking and proactive task management even when information is evolving.
- Work with internal partners and third-party suppliers to maximise value from relationships.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams across new mediums and technologies to deliver innovative content.
- Collaborate with Management and Lead Team to ensure department and business success.
- Conduct regular 1-2-1s with direct reports; review objectives and support skill development.
- Encourage team growth and development through objectives and training, aligning with evolving delivery strategies.
- Ensure processes deliver agreed creative and quality standards in line with department expectations.
- Hire and onboard new full-time staff; maintain a high-quality freelance pool to augment capacity when needed.
- Deploy full-time and freelance resources to optimise team capability, including day-to-day management in absence.
- Lead by example, promoting ASOS behaviours and values with high engagement.
- Demonstrate strong brand awareness by reviewing ideas and researching competition to stay market-leading.
- Develop and implement leadership style and communication in line with ASOS Behaviours policy.
- Contribute to team, departmental, and external meetings with stakeholders.
- Oversee departmental technology software and hardware development and launches.
- Deliver projects to support innovation and department/business strategies, plus ad hoc tasks defined by leads or the Senior Leadership Team.
- Deputise for the Post Production & Editorial Lead when required, aligning decision making with the Lead team.
- Support a culture of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion across the department.
Qualifications:
- Experience in a senior Fashion Editorial, Fashion Journalism, Fashion Communications, or similar role.
- Passionate about fashion and editorial content; up to date with current affairs, trends relevant to our customer base.
- Experience managing a team of writers, editors or content specialists.
- Subbing experience desirable.
- Ability to own, maintain and enforce a brand’s editorial tone of voice and standards.
- Ability to oversee large-scale multi-territory editorial outputs across multiple channels.
- Experience managing editorial workflows in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms, multi-channel publishing tools and analytics/engagement reporting tools.
- Strong ability to work proactively and foster cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking for different audiences.
- Confident communicating with and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Experience or interest in AI-assisted content creation, workflow automation, and emerging editorial technologies.
