The technical team at ASOS are all about achieving the right product quality that not only looks great but fits well and is fantastic value for money. They work closely with the Buying and Merchandising teams and are a key support to Design and Ethical. They are constantly striving to find ways to make sure all our products reach the customers looking the best they can. A desire to improve quality and fit, and the ability to work within a diverse team, build relationships at business and supplier level, and be able to think on your feet in such a fast‑paced environment are all essential to being a member of the ASOS Technical team.
What you’ll be doing...
- Own the end‑to‑end product development of WW Own Brand knitwear across multiple brands and customer segments, ensuring every product reflects brand DNA, trend direction and commercial ambition.
- Translate creative concepts into technically robust, fit‑for‑purpose knitwear, driving yarn selection, gauge, stitch development, specifications and construction that balance style, quality and cost.
- Champion the brand quality promise, ensuring all knitwear meets durability, comfort, performance and compliance standards through rigorous testing, data‑led decisions and proactive risk management.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with global suppliers, influencing yarn choices, knitting methods, finishing techniques and innovation to maximise quality, speed and value.
- Support seasonal knitwear development strategy with Buying and Design, aligning with brand goals, customer insight and category needs to deliver commercially successful ranges.
- Provide strategic input on materials, sustainability and process improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance product performance, reduce risk and support responsible sourcing initiatives.
- Manage multi‑brand critical paths with precision, ensuring all development milestones — from yarn approval to sealing — are delivered on time and in full.
- Partner closely with Design, Buying, Merchandising, Sourcing and Technical, ensuring seamless end‑to‑end execution and a consistent brand standard across knitwear categories.
- Lead fit reviews and technical sign‑off, giving clear, actionable feedback to suppliers and driving consistency in fit, handfeel and construction.
- Use in‑season performance and returns insight to continuously improve, identifying product risks, shaping future development strategy and embedding an always‑on approach to quality.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in knitwear product development within a retail or manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of yarns, gauges, stitches, construction and finishing.
- Experience working with UK and offshore suppliers.
- Confident managing multiple brands, price points and critical paths.
- Clear, objective communicator with a proactive problem‑solving mindset.
