Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of a Right First-Time mind-set throughout the product development and manufacturing cycle to support speed to market.
- Building the capabilities within the supplier base to support step change from Quality Control to Quality Assurance.
- Renewals and updates to the ASOS technical fabric manuals to deliver market-leading standards and easy to follow guidelines.
- Work with Garment Tech, Buying and Fabric Team and ASOS approved labs to ensure suppliers, products and materials are monitored appropriately by risk.
- Risk assessments of challenging key fashion fabric trends such as neon, metallics, PUs etc, highlighting and supporting teams from the beginning of the development process to ensure 1st-time right fabrics that are globally compliant.
- Flagging up areas of failed fabric test reports to the Senior Fabric Technologist and assisting with suggested solutions.
- Support the in-house & suppliers training on Fabric Performance and how to avoid failures to reduce the need for mandatory testing.
- Work with the Established Technologist to introduce self-approval fabric testing processes within the supply chain.
- Produce bi-monthly Fabric Performance updates for the business, demonstrating cost and impact of non-compliance to the business.
- Work with Laboratory partners to suggest and implement areas of improvement to the fabric testing system to support business needs and strategies with cost savings.
- Work with the Laboratory partners to analyze patterns in failed compliance and work with the suppliers to resolve these problems.
- Liaise with Fabric Sourcing day to day, to ensure technical queries are addressed promptly & escalated if necessary.
- Maintain and build relationships with suppliers, attending supplier meetings to support technically.
- Maintain live Loop modules as policies & standards are updated and create new modules when needed, sharing modules in monthly sourcing newsletter.
- Oversee the in-house lab accreditation process with ASOS certified Fabric Technologists supporting visits, training and necessary audits.
- Support Suppliers Seminars, Conferences and Training as necessary.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of fabric technology, testing standards, and garment manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to review test reports and flag potential risks.
- Good communication skills with confidence working cross-functionally and with suppliers.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
