About the Company
My client is a specialist services firm working across DevOps, Data, and AI and one of only a handful of AWS Premier Partners (the top ~4% of all AWS partners). They started life as a DevOps business, grew into Data and AI, and are now around 80 people globally. They're self-funded rather than VC-backed, which has kept their growth disciplined and their focus on doing the work properly rather than chasing headcount. The five-year plan is to become one of the top five service providers in their space globally. They get pulled in on the genuinely hard agentic problems the stuff clients can't crack in-house and they're now hiring an AI Team Lead to take the lead on that work and build the team around it.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role for someone happy to lead from the front. You'll be the technical anchor on the agentic work, taking messy, ambiguous client problems and turning them into proper multi-agent systems that hold up in production. You'll set the technical direction, work closely with senior stakeholders, and grow the team that delivers it. It reports into a highly technical lead who sets a genuinely high standard, so this suits someone who takes real pride in the quality of what they build. There's a lot of room to shape how things get done, so it's a better fit for someone who likes building than maintaining.
What You'll Do
- Own the design and build of their Multi-Agent Systems (MAS), picking the right patterns and frameworks for each problem rather than forcing one approach.
- Lead and mentor a team of around 15 AI Engineers, and keep the engineering bar high.
- Play a big part in hiring as the team grows.
- Design the memory and context side of things (user preferences, sliding windows, semantic recall) so agents stay coherent and useful over time.
- Set the evaluation standards making sure everything that ships is safe, reliable, and performs in production.
- Work directly with clients turning their requirements into real architecture and keeping them close throughout.
What They're Looking For
- Strong hands-on agentic AI experience you've designed and built AI architecture, not just directed it.
- 7+ years in engineering, with at least 2 of those in Gen AI or agentic systems.
- 5+ years of Python, and someone who genuinely cares about clean, modular code.
- Some experience leading or mentoring a team even at Team Lead level is fine; technical credibility matters more than a long management CV.
- Solid production experience with AWS Bedrock and/or GCP Vertex AI.
- Proper battle scars from running agentic systems in production, not just demos.
- Genuinely customer-facing and commercially aware β strong communicator, good with people, low ego.
Nice to Have
- Experience with multimodal systems text, audio, vision, structured data.
- A consulting or service-provider background, so you're used to handling client requirements and technical stakeholders.
Why It's Worth a Look
- AWS Premier Partner a genuinely serious technical shop, not a body-shop.
- Self-funded and growing fast, with big ambitions and the discipline to back them.
- Hard, interesting client problems real agentic work, not internal tooling.
- Real ownership over how the agentic practice is built and run.
- Remote-first with flexible hours.
