ASN HSE Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities at ASN Greenwich. The role ensures compliance with relevant standards and regulations, mitigates risk, and fosters a proactive, positive HSE culture to maintain a safe and healthy working environment across the site. This position has strategic responsibility for aligning ASN Greenwich's HSE practices with corporate objectives, supporting the ongoing development and implementation of best-practice approaches.
Responsibilities
- Assist in reviewing and evaluating existing workplace safety and environmental policies, procedures, and risk assessments, ensuring they are effectively implemented and that risks are reduced to as low as reasonably possible standards.
- Manage the communication and implementation of Policies, and HSE Objectives, Procedures, HSE Risk Assessments & Safe Systems of Work to the workforce including waste management and COSHH.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance to the ISO14001 & ISO 45001 standards, ensuring the HSE system on the site is effective, including the management review, context and interested parties analysis.
- Consult and advise with workforce to understand specific nature of tasks undertaken on site and ensure Risk Assessments are in place for all site operations and activities.
- Support the development, implementation & communication of a robust system for HSE Reporting on site initiating a better understanding by the workforce.
- Investigate Accident/Incident Reports identifying root causes and actions for improvement.
- Develop & implement a system for Site Inspections/Safety Tours and methodology for the provision and sharing of HSE KPI's.
- Bring to attention of Site Director/Head of Site Services any new Hazards or Risks not addressed in Company's Policy.
- Represent the site on central HSE meetings or discussions.
- Assist with the improvement & monitoring of HSE awareness on site.
- Interpreting new & existing Legislation and Codes of Practice, making recommendations to ensure compliance.
- Represent the site as: Radiation Protection Supervisor, Incident Controller, HSE Leader and field expert.
- Use expertise in HSE to advise and improve processes on the ASN Greenwich Site and support the implementation as well as the third-party certification of audit processes of the management systems.
- Create, monitor and maintain Emergency Response Plans.
- Provide support and guidance for the Business Continuity Plan in both the updating and testing.
- Coordinate and support the site HSE committee.
- Ensure a broad overview of all activities conducted by ASN at Greenwich are meeting the legal/corporate requirements to drive a proactive and positive approach to the delivery of the ASN Health, Safety and Environmental agenda.
- Identify and prepare a Training Needs Analysis for the HSE Advisors, propose specialist providers in partnership with the Training School at ASN. Provide, when required, training for ASN staff on specialist HSE topics within the remit and skills of the HSE team.
- Ensure ASN People Management guidance is at the core of line management, focusing on openness, collaboration and inclusion with additional focus on HSE, quality and operational excellence.
- Responsible for the follow up of all internal and external HSE audit findings for the ASN Greenwich Site.
Qualifications
- HSE Degree or significant experience in a range of industries that include manufacturing/construction and production environments.
