And we are at the center of it all: The world's leading technology companies manufacture their products with innovative solutions from ASMPT. Our technology powers EVERYTHING with a digital component: we produce innovative equipment that enables the world’s biggest names in electronics to bring their technology to market. We thrive in a forward-thinking environment where continuous investment powers opportunities to work on exciting new projects on a global scale.
The role:
We are looking for someone who is motivated to start their career and is keen to learn within a manufacturing and production environment. Our Apprentices combine studying for a professional qualification with gaining work experience at our site in Weymouth. You become part of the team when your professional career begins, from Day 1. This is a Level 4 Quality Practitioner apprenticeship designed for individuals who have completed college, A-levels, or an equivalent Level 3 qualification and are ready to move into a more hands-on environment after completing their education.
You will be working as a Quality Assurance Apprentice. You will support the maintenance, compliance and continuous improvement of ASMPT's Quality Management System (QMS), Tool Calibration processes and wider quality assurance activities while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification. In this role, you will develop knowledge of quality management systems, process mapping, calibration, auditing, supplier quality, problem solving and continuous improvement techniques. Through structured training and practical experience, you will support process compliance, maintain accurate quality records, assist with investigations and corrective actions, and contribute to the effectiveness of ASMPT's quality culture.
You will be involved in a wide range of quality and continuous improvement activities, including:
- Supporting the maintenance and continuous improvement of ASMPT's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Creating and updating process maps, procedures and controlled documentation.
- Assisting with tool calibration activities, including maintaining records and coordinating calibration schedules.
- Supporting internal audits and helping ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Working with colleagues across the business to understand, document and improve processes.
- Assisting with investigations into quality issues and supporting root cause analysis activities.
- Using quality tools and techniques to help identify opportunities for improvement.
- Producing reports, analysing data and maintaining quality records.
- Participating in continuous improvement projects that help improve efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction.
- Completing a Level 4 Quality Practitioner apprenticeship while applying your learning in a real manufacturing environment.
As part of the apprenticeship, you will study towards a Level 4 Quality Practitioner qualification.
About the qualification:
During your apprenticeship, you will be visited by the training provider at least once a month for a full day of training. In some months, you may receive two visits to support the development of your knowledge, skills and behaviours. All training is delivered on site at ASMPT, meaning you will not need to leave the workplace to attend college. This workplace-based approach allows the trainer to tailor learning directly to your role, using familiar language and real working examples so you can easily relate the learning to your day-to-day tasks. This is a popular and effective way of learning, as training is personalised to your workplace and delivered in small groups or one-to-one. The training provider operates all year round and does not break for half term, helping you make consistent progress and potentially complete your apprenticeship on time or even earlier than planned. The typical duration of the Level 4 Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship is 14 months (this does not include assessment period).
You will also be set up on an online portfolio, where you can view assigned tasks, track your progress, and see what needs to be completed before your next session. If you need any help between visits, you can contact your tutor for additional support at any time.
Academic Requirements:
5 GCSEs at grade 4/5 or above, including Maths and English, OR 90+ credits in a Level 3 qualification such as A Levels, BTEC, T Level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
