This role sits at the intersection of brand, sales and retail, translating brand strategy into commercially effective customer and category plans that drive performance across key brands and retail customers. The Trade Marketing Manager will own and drive trade performance across priority accounts and channels, identifying growth opportunities and turning insight into action. Working closely with sales, marketing and retail partners, the role will lead the development of category-led plans, promotional recommendations, launch support and range reviews that improve visibility, conversion and commercial results. This is a highly collaborative and commercially focused role, combining strategic planning with strong execution and a clear understanding of retailer dynamics, category performance and market opportunities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute trade marketing strategies that align with overall company objectives and retail partner goals.
  • Plan and execute tailored campaigns across retail and distribution channels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail partners, suppliers and internal sales teams.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial performance & growth

  • Drive commercial performance across key brands, retail customers and channels, using data and insight to improve sales, visibility and return on investment.
  • Identify performance gaps across customers, categories and campaigns, and develop actions to unlock growth opportunities.
  • Monitor the impact of trade activity, promotional performance and customer execution, ensuring plans deliver against agreed objectives and KPIs.

Customer & category planning

  • Translate brand strategy into clear customer, channel and category plans that reflect retailer needs, shopper behaviour and commercial priorities.
  • Lead trade planning for priority launches, seasonal activity and key commercial moments.
  • Partner with sales and account teams on range reviews, promotional planning and customer sell-in, providing strong trade rationale and data-backed recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve assortment, distribution and execution across retail channels, helping prioritise investment behind the biggest opportunities.

Sales partnership & retailer influence

  • Act as a key partner to the sales team, helping shape customer conversations with clear category arguments, trade recommendations and commercially grounded activation plans.
  • Represent the business at relevant trade events and customer-facing opportunities where appropriate.
  • Represent the voice of the customer and category internally, helping ensure marketing and commercial planning is relevant, actionable and customer-focused.

Insight, reporting & decision-making

  • Analyse sales, category and campaign data to inform decision-making, identify trends and improve future activity.
  • Own the reporting rhythm for trade initiatives, turning performance data into clear recommendations on what to scale, stop or change.
  • Provide clear post-campaign and ongoing performance reporting for internal stakeholders and external partners where required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of retailer dynamics and the trade marketing landscape.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs, in particular Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised and excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing demands.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment which involves working with a range of different people and departments.
  • Willingness to develop missing skillsets.
  • Flexibility to travel in UK as required.
  • Always exhibits the correct behaviours as well as delivering the required results.
  • A team player who builds strong working relationships.
  • Can demonstrate desire to rapidly progress, ability to achieve to a high standard and competent working with multiple priorities.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working successfully at Social Media Executive level or similar.
  • Proven experience in trade marketing, retail marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of category management.
  • Degree in Marketing or related field.
