About the role

  • We are looking to recruit a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team. The business has ambitious growth plans therefore require a candidate with full commitment and enthusiasm to achieving both personal and company success.
  • You will work alongside the Commercial Director to develop and drive the commercial strategy and agenda to grow the Business focused on short, medium and long term strategic growth.
  • As an experienced commercial professional, you will be responsible for addressing all associated commercial aspects for a number of contracts valued up to £5m across London and the South East.
  • Reviewing and negotiating Contract conditions and Collateral Warranties with Clients.
  • Pricing Variations typically due to changes to design and/or construction work.
  • Create regular budget, price updates and monthly preparation of contract performance reports (CVRs) for the Directors.
  • Compile Cash-flow forecasts and work in progress reports (WIP) for the Financial Department.
  • Preparing Monthly Applications for Payment and subsequent negotiation of Client assessments to maximise cash flow.
  • Procurement and supervision of Sub-contractor systems and orders to ensure that work undertaken is authorised and certified.
  • Conduct settlement of Client and Sub-contractor Final Accounts.
  • Working closely with the design team, site and project managers on the running of various contracts.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have good experience in Quantity Surveying (3+ years desirable) and have a recognised qualification in a building-related subject.
  • Good knowledge of Structural and Architectural Steel.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Commercially astute and highly numerate with the ability to identify new opportunities within Contracts.
  • Good knowledge of how to improve profit margins whilst maintaining strong client relationships, delivering quality and staying fully aligned to company values.
  • Real focus and attention to detail with a structured style of working.
  • A proactive, diligent and forward-thinking approach.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organisation and time management skills.
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products especially Excel and Word.
