We are lookingfor an organised, proactive and detail-focused Project Support Officer –Skills and Employment to join our Strategy and Inclusive GrowthDirectorate.

This is anexcellent opportunity for someone with strong project support, data andadministration skills who wants to play a key role in supporting programmesthat help people develop their skills, access employment and improve theirfuture opportunities.

Reporting tothe Programmes Lead – Careers, you will provide high-quality project,programme, data and administrative support across the Skills and EmploymentDirectorate. You will help ensure programmes are well organised, accuratelymonitored and delivered in line with funding, contract and audit requirements.

What you’llbe doing

You willprovide essential support across a range of Skills and Employment programmes,including:

  • Supporting the timely and accurateprocessing of provider claims, ensuring they meet programme and fundingrequirements.
  • Maintaining accurate records,project documentation and evidence trails so that programmes remain audit-ready.
  • Monitoring project timelines,deliverables, actions and risks, ensuring key deadlines are met.
  • Using Excel to manage andanalyse data, including pivot tables, lookups, filters, formulas and largedatasets.
  • Supporting contract and programmemanagement, including monitoring finances, performance, targets,subcontractors and risks.
  • Assisting with the review ofprovider evidence against funding rules and escalating issues whereappropriate.
  • Preparing reports covering spend,outputs, outcomes, finance, performance and risk for partners, seniorleaders and governance boards.
  • Supporting contract variations andgovernance documentation, ensuring information and approvals arecoordinated and submitted on time.
  • Maintaining action and riskregisters, project files and programme documentation.
  • Coordinating meetings, calendars,workshops and team events, ensuring activities run smoothly.
  • Drafting and distributing clearcommunications, reports, presentations, guidance and projectdocumentation.
  • Collecting, compiling and analysingdata to support effective performance management and decision-making.
  • Carrying out research and analysisto support the development of performance indicators and managementinformation.
  • Building positive workingrelationships with internal teams including Finance, Audit, Legal andProcurement, as well as external partners such as providers, councils,ICBs and DWP.
  • Contributing to the continuousimprovement of systems, processes and procedures to improve efficiency,compliance and programme delivery.

About you

We are lookingfor someone who is organised, accountable and adaptable, with theability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level ofaccuracy.

You willideally have experience of working in a project, programme or contractsupport environment, with an understanding of skills, employment,employability or related public sector programmes.

You will bring:

  • Strong project and programmesupport experience, ideally with knowledge of skills and employmentprogrammes.
  • Excellent data management andanalysis skills, including confident intermediate-level Excelcapability.
  • Experience of using spreadsheets tocreate tracking data, monitor timelines, analyse information and producereports.
  • Experience of maintaining accuraterecords and documentation to support compliance and audit requirements.
  • An understanding of contractmanagement, claims verification, financial monitoring or programmeassurance.
  • Strong organisational skills andthe ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and manage multipleactivities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports, guidanceand information for different audiences.
  • Experience of building effectiverelationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • A flexible approach and willingnessto support across different areas of the directorate as priorities change.
  • Competence in mainstream Microsoftapplications and web-based technology.

Experiencedemonstrating career progression would be desirable.
