Main purpose of the job
You will support the business to deliver people-related processes, vision and strategy across the company. This includes driving employee engagement and proactively supporting managers to achieve their maximum results. Taking charge of the HR function, you will own all related policies and procedures, develop effective internal procedures, support recruitment and manage employee relations. This role reports to Head of Finance & HR.
Main tasks of the job
- Actively engage at all levels of the business ensuring a safe, happy and fully vitalised team.
- Drive the company culture and values throughout the whole business.
- Develop, implement and maintain HR policy, processes, and procedures to improve business performance and employee well-being.
- Own the non-financial benefits schemes within the business and consistently look for ways to further engage and excite.
- Proactively and efficiently advise and support managers on employment relations issues including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management, etc.
- Manage the onboarding and off-boarding process.
- Prepare, process and finalise the monthly payroll.
- Support hiring managers with the recruitment and selection process.
- Manage the appraisal process and oversee employee training and development.
- Provide regular HR communications to engage with staff and promote learning opportunities, including curating learning resources library in SharePoint.
- Manage the HR and payroll systems.
- Be the main point of contact for external HR advisors (Peninsula).
- Ensure that Handbook and Contracts are up to date and comply with current employment legislation.
- Train managers and business leaders on updates to current legislation where appropriate.
Essential skills and experience
- Experience as an HR Manager in a small business.
- Experience of running a monthly payroll.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- High level of IT literacy.
Desirable skills and experience
- CIPD qualifications (level 5 or above).
- Experience of working in an engineering and manufacturing environment.
