Are you a Project Engineer with specialist knowledge in Automotive Body Systems seeking a new opportunity to grow your career? ASL Technical are now working with a leading automotive engineering organisation as they look to expand their Body Development Engineering team. Main Purpose of Automotive Body Systems Project Engineer We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to work on cutting-edge design and development projects related to Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), focusing on both current production and future vehicle platforms. This role will support the implementation of innovative technologies, cost optimisation, and breakthrough concepts within Body in White (BIW) and trim component areas, including acoustics and aerodynamics. Responsibilities of Automotive Body Systems Project Engineer Lead or support the design and validation of BIW and trim components with a focus on cost, quality, and timing. Conduct benchmarking, design FMEAs, and technical investigations, and prepare business cases including cost analysis. Manage the validation and adoption process for new design solutions. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including design teams, suppliers, manufacturing, testing, project management and product planning teams. Collaborate across global engineering and support centres. Work proactively and independently to progress design work and provide support to team members. Ensure adherence to established design processes and standards. Attend and contribute to virtual meetings using provided or contractor-supplied equipment. Experience / Knowledge for the Automotive Body Systems Project Engineer Minimum HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (degree preferred). Proven experience in automotive design engineering – OEM experience preferred; Tier 1 supplier experience acceptable. Strong understanding of metal pressings and assembly and/or trim components (experience in both preferred). Background in supplier management and cross-functional collaboration. Working knowledge of CAD (preferably NX) is desirable. Confident using Microsoft Office tools. Excellent communication skills in English. Full UK/EU driving licence. Experience working within or alongside multiple OEMs is a strong advantage. Other Details of the Automotive Body Systems Project Engineer Role CAD laptop and required design tools provided. Contractor to supply basic PPE and headset for online meetings. Technical support available from wider engineering functions as needed.
